Hitomi MatchBox Moves into Software Timing Tools | IBC2025

Listen Later

At IBC2025, we speak with Russell Johnson from Hitomi Broadcast about the latest development for MatchBox: moving world-leading timing and synchronisation technology into software. Known globally as the standard for measuring latency and lip sync in hardware, Hitomi Broadcast is now addressing the growing demand for reliable tools in software-based workflows.

Russell explains how Hitomi Broadcast’s approach remains the same, measuring video latency and lip sync with absolute precision, but is now applied across virtualised environments. Using "probes" within software, engineers can measure delays at different points in a workflow, map timings, and ensure accuracy across production chains. With integrations such as Grass Valley AMPP already underway, MatchBox in software promises broadcasters the same trusted performance they’ve relied on in hardware.
