According to the Virginia Department of Health, in 2008 71% of people with HIV/AIDS in Hampton Roads and the Eastern Shore were Black men - a shocking number considering African-Americans make up 12% of the population. Black women are 23% more likely to be infected with the AIDS virus than White women. Why is this disease ravishing our community?
