Welcome to the HLC political podcast for 7/27/2016 it’s the “Stopa Goes Solo” edition of the podcast. On this week’s episodes, Mike takes the car out for a spin on his own as Todd is buried in the otherworld of radio and newspaper publishing. Find us online at harvardlunchclub.com and on twitter @HLCpodcast

Mike takes the opportunity to relive some of his recent experiences as a delegate for Donald Trump at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland last week. The issue du jour is the media depiction of the Republican versus the Democratic Conventions. It is now only the second day of the latter, but one of the clear narratives that has emerged is that the Republican convention was dark and foreboding and – they love this word – dystopian! The nation we live in is a nightmare from a horror story.

But the Democrats have returned to tell us how no, in fact, it is not all dark and gloomy. We all have ice cream and ponies and we go to the beach every day. America is and has always been a great nation!

What’s wrong with this picture? Mike will give you his take – along with a journey through upstate New York and a Carolina Panthers fan in an odd place.

Warning: Stopa Chose the Music Today – Proceed to Hidden Gem at your own risk.

Our hidden gem this week – just because he could – is chosen by Mike too. It is Return of the Grievous Angel by Gram Parsons with backup vocals by Emmylou Harris.
