This week on the podcast, I talk with Eliza Swann. Eliza is an interdisciplinary artist, intuitive writer, mystic, educator, community organizer, and (on April 14th!) a published author.
In this episode, Eliza shares her journey of coming to mysticism before it was “cool,” and how she has remained resilient in her work through big cultural shifts around spirituality. We chat about the oracles, the witches, and the ancestors that were persecuted before us and how we can draw strength from them.
Eliza is the founder of The Golden Dome School, an educational and performance platform created for studying the intersection of art, metaphysics, and ecology. She shares its evolution from a solo roving punk project into a more sustainable model for teaching magic without hierarchy to a 501c3 nonprofit, and how creating accountability and removing oneself from the center of a project can give it new life and a sense of community..
Eliza also gives us a sneak peak into her new book, Auras: The Anatomy of the Aura, which comes out on April 14th! This book is a modern take on how the aura is mapped, in relationship to the chakra system. Auras: The Anatomy of the Aura is beautiful and deep, as well as action-based with so many examples of practices and exercises to do. Many of them are not dependent on proximity, so we can even do them in the midst of social distancing!
Eliza has some badass Capricorn energy and we close the episode by talking about discipline: what it really is, why our culture seems to lean so far away from it, and super real talk about how to practice it in our solo-work lives.
Be sure to join us this week for all of that goodness, plus some top-notch justification for hoarding books (spoiler: you can just call them pets).
