Hokum is certainly one of the bold horror films that fearlessly explores various approaches to contemporary filmmaking. Although I'm not a huge fan of the folk horror genre, the movie managed to capture my attention throughout, setting two goals for the protagonist and their companions to achieve, creating a perfect equilibrium between them that keeps you intrigued about what lies ahead. The slow-burning pace and chilling atmosphere effectively reflect the folk tale being portrayed, skillfully engaging the audience without causing boredom. The soundtrack is excellent and fitting. I don't even need to mention the outstanding performances from the entire cast. Subjectively, it may not be the best fit for my preferences, but objectively, I can't identify any significant flaws, aside from perhaps a few logical inconsistencies that keep our character within the horror narrative.
