Leviticus 21:1-24.

From Chapter 17 forward we have seen a common theme—Yahweh’s call for all of His people to be holy as He is holy. Now, in Chapters 21 & 22, the LORD God is specifically calling the spiritual leaders of Israel to be holy. We hear this and it makes sense. If Yahweh intends for all His people to be holy, then certainly He intends the spiritual leaders of His people to be holy. But this isn’t just a call for spiritual leaders who serve in official capacities. It’s a call for any who are ‘royal priests’ in Christ Jesus. Thus these chapters about holiness and leadership are God’s Word for us. Main Idea—Spiritual leaders are called to holy lives worthy of imitation and ultimately point to our need for Jesus.
