Listen Later

Ostrolenk speaks with Josette and Ba Luvmour, educators who have started several holistic education schools, a holistic learning center for families and children, and many whole-family immersion programs. They also work as Adjunct Faculty at Antioch University, in the IMA program in Social Sciences, Concentration in Transformative Learning. Josette and Ba begin by discussing how their work revolves around focusing on how children organize the world, describing the broad stages of childhood development. Josette and Ba further note that the providing a nourishing environment for a child can also nourish a parent’s environment growth and development, providing parents with greater purpose, meaning, and strength. They further discuss the long-term values of this approach, including the fact that when children feel valued – as their approach teaches – they are more likely to step into social justice roles.
