This week, Danielle and Jac are joined by Dr. Gladys McGarey, also known as the mother of holistic medicine and author of “The Well Lived Life: A 102 Year Old Doctor’s Six Secrets to Health and Happiness at Every Age”. To start, Dr.McGarey shares what it was like going to medical school and being a women in medicine during WW1. She shares details on how growing up in India with both of her parents being osteopaths influenced her passion for holistic medicine and later led her to co-founding the American Holistic Medical Association. They also discuss Dr.McGarey’s foundational 5 L’s (Life, Love, Laughter, Labour, and Listening) and how they come into play in her book. Lastly, Dr. McGarey shares how she felt going through the Covid-19 pandemic in comparison to other world events she’s seen throughout her life and career.
