In 2005, a man named Ray started hearing whispers from Devil's Fork Creek near Robbinsville, Tennessee. At first it was just the wind in the rhododendron, then it became words in the middle of the night. The voice called his name, slipping into his sleep like a rusted needle. Luna went to stay with him, heard it too — a woman's voice speaking backwards, then perfect English. She tells the story of the night the whisper finally said something that made Ray disappear into the dark, and what he found waiting by the water. A story about the things that listen back, and how some sounds never leave the bones. Recorded live from a porch in the Appalachian holler, with the fireflies blinking in the wet August air.
