You've heard the adage: "It's not about the destination, but the journey."

What is a journey without it's struggles? An adventure without difficulty is hardly one worth telling. 

Who doesn't enjoy a story or two about overcoming adversity? It gives us hope that if we, too, were to apply ourselves, then perhaps we may prevail.

This plants the seed of challenge, of which overcoming becomes the reward. It is intangible and personal. Nobody can hand it to you, therefore nobody can take it away from you. How great your reward is, is determined by how high you aim.
