It follows the unlikely friendship between Tony Lip, a working-class Italian-American bouncer, and Dr. Don Shirley, a world-class African-American classical pianist. The title refers to The Negro Motorist Green Book, a guide for Black travelers during the segregation era. The film won the Academy Award for Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Supporting Actor for Mahershala Ali.
