WASHING THE DISHES

Bless to me these dishes,

The plates, the glasses, the silverware,

The pots and pans that held the meal.

Bless to me this clean, warm water and soap,

This dishwasher,

These hands I use to scrub and rinse.

Bless to me this quiet time,

This family preparing for bed,

Tired bodies yearning for rest.

Bless to me this kitchen, clean,

This family, cared for,

This night, descending.

Bless to me this life of love.
