When God gives his Name, he is doing two remarkable things. He gives *himself* to us along with the Name. He also speaks the deepest truth about himself, that he is Mercy. When Jesus was given the Name of the Lord, this means that he is God giving himself to us and God giving to us his mercy--the mercy that triumphs over judgment.
