Holy Spirit Embrace

Please turn in you Bibles to John 14:17-21
ruwach (roo’-akh): wind, breath, violent exhalation, blast of breath, spirit (ref. Genesis 1:2)
pneuma (pnyoo’-mah): wind, current of air, blast of breath, spirit (ref. 1Thessalonians 5:19-20)
“If you love me, keep my commands. 16 And I will ask the Father, and He will
give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever—17 the Spirit of
Truth. The world cannot accept Him, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him.
But you know Him, for He lives with you and will be in you.” John 14:5b-17
Advocate: parakletos (par-ak-lay-tos): called to come alongside (ref. John 16:7b-8)
WHY ARE SO MANY LIVING SPIRIT-LESS LIVES?
1: Some aren’t aware of the Holy Spirit
“Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” And they said,
“No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.” Acts 19:2b
2: Some resist the Holy Spirit
“You stiff-necked people, uncircumcised in heart and ears, you always
resist the Holy Spirit. As your fathers did, so do you.” Acts 7:51
3 WAYS THE HOLY SPIRIT HELPS US
1: Comforter: the Holy Spirit will encourage you
“I will pray the Father, and he shall give
you another Comforter.” John 14:16-KJV
2: Counselor: the Holy Spirit will come to your defense (ref. John 14:16 NIV)
But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He
will guide you into all the truth. John 16:13
3: Convict-er: the Holy Spirit will steer you straight
“…when He has come, He will convict the world of sin,
and of righteousness, and of judgment…” John 16:8b
What is God’s Spirit speaking into your life today? How must you respond?
