Shockingly, God commands his people to engage in Holy War and so they kill an entire nation. We can make sense of this only if we understand God's sovereignty (he is God and we are not), justice (he fairly judges evil and that's good), patience (he shows extraordinary patience to an evil nation) and mercy (he saves Ancient Israel who didn't deserve it). Christians deal with the same sovereign God who has shown us justice, patience & mercy as Jesus died for us.
