How Not to Run a Business

Homeless at 15 to Multi-Millionaire with Simon Squibb | Ep 06

Listen Later

In this episode, I speak with Simon Squibb, serial entrepreneur, and angel investor. Simon is what a lot of people would call successful and someone who has made it. He grew and sold his branding and digital agency, Fluid, to PWC turning him into a multi-millionaire. Not bad for someone who was homeless at 15.

Simon is an incredibly generous human, he is on a mission to help as many people start a business as possible and find purpose in their lives. I was interested to speak to Simon as someone who had to achieve great success and become wealthy to understand his perspective on success and failure. It was a very insightful conversation. I learned a lot!

Highlights include:

  • His journey from being homeless at 15 to multi-million.
  • How luck played a role in his success.
  • Simon's perspective on failure.
  • How he tried to create a comic book to take on Marvel and DC.
  • The biggest failure Simon has made. How he lost $1 million dollars and the biggest lessons he learned.
  • His approach to hiring people.
  • Why people leave your business is always a good thing.
  • Everyone should open a business one time in their life.
  • How do the closing and selling a business have the same effect on you?

Simon Squibb is a serial entrepreneur, angel investor, motivational speaker, and mentor. He has started 19 businesses, invested in over 75, and has mentored hundreds of founders. Having sold his award-winning insight-driven branding and digital agency, Fluid, to PwC, Simon now focuses on inspiring, motivating, and guiding both budding and experienced entrepreneurs by sharing his personal experiences, insights, ideas, and tips on his website simonsquibb.com and through his social channels.
