Outside of our cities, the services available to those who find themselves in need of supports after becoming homeless are shockingly inadequate.
Local authorities operate Monday-Friday from 9-5 and have no after hours supports of any sort. They also use archaic rules related to where someone is deemed to be ordinarily resident to deny services and frustrate those working to help individuals and families in this awful situation.
This week, Barbara is joined by Alan Lawes who is a community activist from Navan and an elected county councillor for Meath to highlight the incredible lack of a caring and adequate system to support this all too common situation that is now beyond a crisis for many.
This is a "Red Talks" podcast series, produced by the Red Network which is an integral part of People Before Profit.
