A pattern of dishonesty is a symptom of hypocrisy. And a pattern of hypocrisy does two things: It shows that person to be self-deceived about their relationship with the Lord, and it gives the unbelieving world a reason to criticize and mock the Church. In the last part of Romans 2; Paul makes some strong points about the value of honesty and how it is reflected in our lives.
