Joe Biden’s entry into the race gives Iowa Democrats the largest presidential field in history — certainly since the first-in-the-nation caucuses began in 1972.  With around 280 days to go before the caucuses — and fewer than 60 days before the first debates — Democratic strategist Phil Roeder sizes up the candidates. The death of former Indiana Senator Dick Lugar at age 87 saddened many who admired him for his decency, bipartisanship, and desire to rid the world of excess nuclear weapons.  Former Sen. Sam Nunn (D-GA), who famously worked with Lugar on nuclear issues, talks about their relationship.  Paul Helmke, a longtime friend who served as mayor of Fort Wayne, also reflects on Lugar’s life and legacy.  And to top it all off, we are replaying our interview with Dick Lugar himself, from November of 2017, in which he talks about his career highlights and disappointments. Music used in this podcast: Be My Number Two by Joe Jackson Expressway To Your Heart by The Soul Survivors Save The World by Swedish House Mafia Some Enchanted Evening by Jane Oliver My Way by Frank Sinatra
