In this episode we discuss the historical background of Barbara Rose John’s leadership of a student walk out in Farmville, VA in 1951, at a time where segregation divided the nation. I give details on how I taught about Barbara Johns in my US and African American History classrooms, why you should incorporate her into your social studies curriculum and the lessons we can learn from her leadership.
