Psalm 119 has been called "A Hymn to God's Word." We can understand this very well once we dig deeply into its form and structure. There are 22 stanzas, each beginning with the same Hebrew letter as it works through the entire alphabet. God's Word is highlighted in Psalm 119 with a variety of terms used to describe God's Word.
The seventh stanza shouts out the miracle of hope into the very center of our being. The first line begins with this request: "Remember your word to your servant, for you have given me hope." We will discover many of the reasons for the need of this God-given hope as we work our way through this seventh stanza. And once we reach the end we also discover the reason that this hope can be realized in our lives: "For this has been my practice: I obey your precepts." Amen.
