In today’s message, we begin a new year by slowing down and asking a deeper question about why the church exists and why we gather. This teaching launches a new series called The Church Jesus Had in Mind, rooted in Matthew 16, where Jesus first speaks about building His church. Surrounded by competing voices, false gods, and distractions, Jesus asks a question that still shapes our lives today. Who do you say that I am. Christmas may be over, but the greatest gift has not expired.

We’re going to dig into how your heart shapes your life. How it can either open you up to joy and freedom or quietly close you off. You’ll start to see why gratitude changes everything, and why a life that trusts God can actually lead to more than you imagined. The goal is for you to ask yourself questions you haven’t before about your money, your time, your resources, and your motives. And you’ll see that living generously isn’t just possible. It’s way more powerful and joyful than you think.

Thinking about heaven can change how you see life now, reminding you of God’s love, the purpose in your daily steps, and the peace that points beyond this world. The Bible describes a new heaven and a new earth, a place free from pain, full of joy, meaningful work, community, and worship. It is a physical place where we will recognize each other, experience God’s presence, and live in the fullness of His promises. In this message, we follow 2 Peter 3 and Revelation to see what will happen at the end of the world, the hope of eternal life, and how that hope shapes life today. Heaven is not just a distant idea, it is a reality that gives perspective, hope, and joy for the life we are living now.
