This is the 1st cast honoring September as Suicide Awareness month. I talk about my experience with suicide as well as what our students struggle with that tend to affect suicidal thoughts. I then interview Ms Haynes, a mother of a student from Hickman County that lost her son to suicide.

Hope for Hickman: Episode 1

HfH discusses mental health issues that school age kids and adults are dealing with. It is ran by the AWARE Youth Council (AYC) at the high schools in Hickman County TN. AYC is a group of students who pledge to be upstanders for students who feel they do not have a voice and are unseen. They are the eyes and ears to help their fellow students who may be struggling emotionally. They are a 1st line of defense and help the Mental Health professionals in the schools identify our struggling students. For the podcasts, there will be 1 full episode and 3 smaller "Mindful Moment" episodes each month. I, Aaron Saunders, School Counselor, will be leading the 1st few episodes but the students at each high school, East Hickman High School and Hickman County High School, will be doing the Mindful Moments and eventually leading the full episodes. The guests on the episodes will be individuals who have had major experiences with each episode theme.
