On this first episode they discuss self-care and not the target and Starbucks run we may be thinking of! Self-Care through the lens of Jesus shows us we cannot fix what we don't realize needs attention. From body scans, soaking ourselves in Truth, tune in to find out how awareness of the right things leads to our own transformation with the help of the Holy Spirit. 

Tension in your shoulders, snapping at the kids, a sense of being “over it”, hiding in your phone. We’ve been there, military wife. You’re overwhelmed and your body feels it and your family can sense it. But, there is hope. God did not intend for you to be in a state of constant stress and anxiousness.

On our latest episode of Hope on the Homefront we get to chat with fellow military wife, Rachel Yorgey, an HFH volunteer, as she talks with Co-founder April Griffin about triggers. What are they? Where do they come from? How do we handle them?

As believers in Christ, the way we deal with our triggers should look radically different from those that have no hope in the Lord. That is a tall order, and one we cannot do it on our own accord. We must invite God in to reveal where we are struggling, why we are struggling and understand the refuge He is in times of stress.

We know you’ll be encouraged by this conversation about military life, our spouses, and our kids. Plus, you’ll hear some practical ways we’ve learned to respond to these triggers in Biblical way rather than just reacting to them in a way we’ll regret later.

Disappointment over orders you prayed you wouldn’t get.

Overwhelmed when you’re alone again.

Anger when the military didn’t do what they should have done.

Well, good news, military wife: you’re not alone and God can handle your big feelings.

You don’t have to hide in shame, but you also don’t have to be consumed by your feelings. They’re real, but they’re not always right and we’re sharing the truths that help us keep Jesus at the center of everything.

 April shares how God wants us to handle these feelings. After all God made us with emotions and wants us to feel them too!

No matter what the world becomes or where this military life takes us, we are never without hope, and we forever have a reason to rejoice.
