Horace Small - "The Work That We Do Is The Living Personification of Love"

In this episode, Horace Small, founder of the Union of Minority Neighbourhoods (UMN), shares how having compassion for people has helped him form this non-profit organization. He shares his incredible journey of life, from being a part of the anti-war movement at 13 years old to rebuilding communities of color to strengthen democracy. UMN has trained over 4000 young adults about civic engagement, politics, and public policies to develop new leadership. They constantly aim towards evolving new community leaders to bring communities together and work on issues that affect them. Horace Small proudly says that they will never give up and keep building new leadership to continue challenging the power to positively change the community.

This episode features a "How I Got Here" session which was a part of the events during the 2021 MLK Week at NYU.
