Dak has begun his quest from Hoshruba into the human lands, within the Dark Forest where he discovers the Oracle a living talisman who presents him with the first part of the prophecy as well as the comfort in the idea that Hoshruba may yet be saved. Also within the forest, Zurab has met with Sosruko in secret, both come into agreement that Dago, leader of those of the Dark Forest, must be removed.

At Ruba Khali, they begin to sense the weakening of Hoshurba’s walls, they discover the weakening of their own in some bizarre sense of balance, leading them to thoughts of revenge for their past banishment.

Kopala is released by Zurab, leader of a rogue group of Forgotten Ones who seek to have better ties to Hoshruba. Within Hoshruba, King Batraz mourns the approaching death of his wife, Queen Gulisa. Luka awakes from a dream where he envisioned Hoshruba’s destruction. He realizes an ancient prophecy might indeed be true so sends one of his acolytes, Dak, on a quest to discover the complete text and, hopefully, a means to fight this potential apocalypse.

As destruction threatens Hoshruba's walls, King Batraz succumbs to his daughter, Princess Bedisa’s request to begin magical trials to prepare her for her future leadership of the kingdom. The king’s advisors discover old enemies are unexpectedly resourceful, a young human, Cas, assumes importance to the defense of Hoshruba, and the Royal Family is under personal and professional pressure to solve the continuing mystery of the attack. Susroku plays a double game.

Cas, still in a daze, recalls the capture of him and his family by the Arab bandits while, through flashback, we see Luka reading his memories after seeing a glimmer of something “special” within this particular human; however, he is unable to discover its source. Back at the Dark Forest, Kopala is tortured by the Forgotten Ones in their attempt to discover his reasons for his intrusion.

Powerful magical enemies of Hoshruba negotiate for allies of convenience, and king Batraz of Hoshruba communicates with his brother Sosruko via telepathy as he believes him to be behind the attack due to his banishment to the Dark Forest. The magic land of Rub Al Khali is also attacked, but the Queen, Adarah, only thinks of revenge on Hoshruba. A young magician, Dak, discovers an ancient scroll that may indicate how to defend Hoshruba.

Cas’ family, father Aarth, mother Meenu and sister Zeeba, all enslaved within the bandit camp of Abu-Talib, worried for Cas when he mysteriously appears from his time within Hoshruba, his memory void of his experience.   Kopala has been captured by the Forgotten Ones of the Dark Forest, learning they are in fact intelligent with limited magical ability.

Far within the scorching desert, a Jinn is unleashed upon an Arabian soldier by General Amiral, a wizard of the Ruba Khali, in hopes of its future use as a weapon of destruction. Luka, Hoshruba's master wizard mind-melds with young human Cas, retrieving intriguing information that could pose a threat to the future of the kingdom.
