Vivace is a very bright woman who received her undergraduate and graduate degree in Biology from Cornell University. She worked in the medical field for twelve years before becoming a speaker and life coach.
My guest explains that "my mother was my BFF and she lives for her children." This was all terribly hard because Vivace always wanted her mother "to feel valued and honored yet she was at the bottom of everyone's totem pole."
Unfortunately, the abuse toward she and her mother started when Vivace was very young and continued until both women left the family, leaving behind the two sons as they chose to remain with their father. Yet, Vivace recalls asking her mother on a regular basis "can we leave today, can we leave today" but it was years before they left. From a young age, Vivace would confront her father verbally about the abuse, but her bravery came with a price.
With $100 in their pocket, both women left the horrific beatings behind and found shelter with family members who unfortunately knew of the abuse, but never came to Jaleh's rescue.
Through many years of depression, pain, anger, resentment and a planned suicide, Vivace began her healing process through therapy, research and seeking the truth.
She uses her past experience as a tool to help her clients improve their self worth and confidence through compassion and understanding. Ultimately, the client has to realize that the possibilities are limitless.

"Should Have Listened To My Mother" would not be possible without the generosity, sincerity and insight from my guests. In 2018/2019, in getting ready to launch my podcast, so many were willing to give their time and share their personal stories of their relationship with their mother, for better or worse and what they learned from that maternal relationship.
Some of my guests include Nationally and Internationally recognized authors, Journalists, Columbia University Professors, Health Practitioners, Scientists, Artists, Attorneys, Baritone Singer, Pulitzer Prize Winning Journalist, Activists, Freighter Sea Captain, Film Production Manager, Professor of Writing Montclair State University, Attorney and family advocate @CUNY Law; NYC First Responder/NYC Firefighter, Child and Adult Special Needs Activist, Property Manager, Chefs, Self Help Advocates, therapists and so many more talented and insightful women and men.
Jackie has worked in the broadcasting industry for over four decades. She has interviewed many fascinating people including musicians, celebrities, authors, activists, entrepreneurs, politicians and more.
A big thank you goes to Ricky Soto, NYC based Graphic Designer, who created the logo for "Should Have Listened To My Mother".
