“God dammit Jack, you can't go out there!” Cait Raft stares up at her co-host, familiarity in their embrace, her teardrops are pickled constellations under the sheen of set-lights. “Fall-back? The boy next door song? Hot cubes? The Morning Show show on Apple TV+? These Monday topics are too dangerous Jack!”

At this Jack Allison breaks their embrace, taking hold of Cait’s shoulders, “God dammit Cait you think I don’t know that! You think I’m not scared to wake up and do this show everyday? But this is what we signed up for! This is America, this is JackAm, this is the goddamn freaking news, and this is what we put our lives on the line for every goddamn day!”

She slaps him, “You Neanderthal!”

“Oh Cait,” Says Jack, “you’re so freaking hot right now!”

“Hotter than hot.”

“The hottest.” Jack breathes deep and searches the depths of her misty-eyes with his own, he finds what he seeks and soon tears his gaze away from her face and her sobs, settling his eyes on something she cannot see, “but we’ve still got a goddamn freaking show to do.”
