My relationship with God didn’t come from blindly following the rules of organized religion or the Bible. It came from questioning, resisting, leaving, healing… and eventually finding my own way back.
In this episode, I’m taking you through my journey with God- from Catholic school and church as a little girl, to the really uncomfortable moments and experiences within religion, what I was being told about God that just didn’t sit right with me, and to finding myself at a very cult-like retreat where my body was screaming at me, "this is not right!"
I also share why I distanced myself from religion, what began shifting as I went deeper into my own healing, and how getting sober from alcohol and cocaine ultimately brought me into a relationship with God more intimate than anything I had experienced before.
I believe our relationship with God is sacred, deeply personal, and intimate- and no person, institution, or definition of what a “woman of God” should be gets to replace our own communion with Him.
And surprisingly, one of the things that has brought me even closer to God has been daily prayer and my sensual embodiment journey, which can be really uncomfortable and challenging for a lot of people who are undoing the dogmatic religious programming.
But learning to come home to my body taught me how deeply a woman’s body knows Truth and know God. It taught me to listen. To trust. To feel the difference between fear, conditioning, outside noise, and the quiet knowing of God’s voice within me.
Today, God is woven into the way I live, the decisions I make, the people I surround myself with, and the woman I’m becoming. And if you decide to come along on this Hot & Holy journey with me, you should know that we’re gonna talk about God in every single episode.
So if you’ve been questioning, navigating, or even feeling nervous or scared about your own relationship with God- but somewhere in your heart you know you desire His love and guidance, you desire a deeper relationship with Him, and you want that relationship to be rooted in love rather than fear and shame- this episode is for you.
You’re allowed to ask questions. You’re allowed to use your discernment. And you’re allowed to have a relationship with God that feels intimate, true, and sacred to you.
This episode is just the planting of the seed... because as the Hot & Holy podcast unfolds, we’re going deeper- with God, with ourselves, with our bodies, with our self-expression, and with what it means to become the hot & holy woman He created you to be.
