Workplace Perspective is here to help you sail through your holiday events with confidence and style!  SAFFIRE LEGAL PC’s founder and principal attorney Teresa McQueen talks today about the importance of sending an RSVP, how to engage in small talk, and ways to preserve that all important business relationship as you politely disengage from a social conversation.

Workplace Perspective is a regular podcast series for employers and employees focusing on education, training, and the law to help organizations of all sizes develop and maintain successful employer / employee relationships.

"Taking the time to think before you act and then acting in way that builds those all important business relationships will go a long way toward helping you shine a bit brighter and solidify your reputation as someone who understands the value of developing and maintaining professional relationships."  - Teresa McQueen

Highlights From This Week's Workplace Perspective:

* Failing to respond to an invitation is one of the most frustrating mistakes people make. By failing to respond to the invitation, you’ve frustrated your host and are well on your way to making a bad impression – and you haven’t even set foot in the door!

* Be sure to respond to invitations IMMEDIATELY! A good rule of thumb is to respond within a day or two of receiving the invitation.

* The dictionary defines small talk as “polite conversation about unimportant or uncontroversial matters, especially as engaged in on social occasions;” Take it for what it is and run with it.

* If meet and greets make you nervous keep in mind most all social business events are structured as meet and greets. This means attendees are expecting to have people introduce themselves. Half the battle is already won!

* When politely disengaging from a social conversation, taking the time to consider your options for disengaging honestly will assure that your actions are sincere, genuine, and authentic. And remember, being truthful is an important part of acting honestly.
