It's a Farming for the Future Friday with the Coalition to Support Iowa's Farmers. Today we are focused on the pork industry! Bob Quinn is joined CSIF's Brian Waddingham discussing the great opportunities in the state of Iowa for new hog farmers and how the Coalition can help with the understanding of all of the rules and regulations and establishing neighbor relationships. Humboldt County pork producer and past president of the Iowa Pork Producers Association, Kevin Rasmussen, tells us what he tells young people who are curious about getting into hog farming including the joys of living in rural Iowa. Ben Nuelle from the IPPA gives his perspective of moving from Iowa to a big city then deciding to move back to Iowa to get into the pork industry. He also gives an update on his current trip to Washington D.C. to meet with the new federal legislators. Kody Havens from CSIF outlines the process of getting in touch with the Coalition for their confidential assistance, having an on-farm visit, and getting farmers in touch with the right people to get plans put into action.
