One electronic music producer who worked for a year at 7West named David, and Favian who's a great friend and a talented house head DJ and producer, both have said that the house music tracks that I spin are usually all made with minor keys. Favian said that these are the sad/melancholy sounds. Very cool. You learn something every day.

This long weekend ends on Monday, July 1st as we celebrate Canada Day. Happy Canada Day Folks!!! What a wonderful country. Toronto has been my home since I was five years old escaping from Saigon, South Vietnam. I can talk about how much I love this city, this country and the people I've met along the way in the past five decades.

The house music since I was 14 or 15 that I've experienced in this city has been mind-blowing to me. It's so inspirational. House music, whether receiving it on the dancefloor or giving it out as a DJ. It's the ultimate personal expression and therapeutic outlet.

This is MixTwo of "Like a Kiss". This is a more aggressive and charging mix. MixOne is more mellow. It was soooo much fun to make. This was done in one take. MixOne took six attempts over a month and went in every direction except the vibe that I was chasing. The journey is part of the fun and discovery of this great genre of music—this beautiful art form.

I read this and thought about how specifically art touches some and not others.
How that is okay and as it should be.

This has massive implications for any artist.

Zero pressure.

Some are drawn to your art. Your medium of choice. Your style. Your techniques. Or whatever combination.

Some aren't drawn no matter what and for whatever reason. Nothing anyone can do about it.

This also relates to a post I read a few years ago about how some people physically react to music.
Some people like me.

Also relates to two people in my life, both music producers. One was into electronic music in general, and the other into house music.

They both observed after listening to many of my mixes that most of the tracks I played were in minor keys.
I don't have any classical music training, so I asked them what that means.
