During the summer of 2016, Ji Yang was somewhere between Squamish and Vancouver when a vine twisting through underbrush and bushes caught his trained eye. Yang, a biologist and botanist, had discovered a feral hop population growing in the wild, and he was intrigued. Samantha Holomay reports.
