In this powerful episode of Shallows & Deep Waters, host Gustaf af Klint sits down with Isack Häring, a 30-year-old backend developer whose story pushes beyond religion, labels, and assumptions.
Isack opens up with raw honesty about his darkest season — a point where he had completely lost the will to live. But a single Bible study became the turning point that changed everything. From suicidal thoughts to restored purpose, he shares how Scripture exposed the difference between being a “Christian in name only” and becoming a true Biblical disciple.
Growing up in the Pentecostal movement, Isack thought he understood Christianity. In Berlin, meeting Gustaf ignited a journey that challenged his doctrine, relationships, and identity. He realised he had been following a form of religion — not the Bible — and that following Jesus meant surrender, repentance, and transformation, not just attendance and emotion.
Isack's story is one of humility when faced with the truth, doing what is right at great personal cost and ending up saving his own mother's life as a result.
