Global shipping routes have been thrown into chaos by COVID-19 and the newest crisis is a shortage of containers and massive shipping price rises just as suppliers around the world try and stock up for the holidays.

You’d be hard pressed to find an empty shipping container in China right now, and if you did you’d have to pay top dollar to get it where you wanted it to go.

And a lot of the people looking for empty containers are trying to fill orders for items that shoppers in Europe and America will want on the shelves for Christmas.

In this episode Timothy Pope and Zhang Shixuan take a look at where all the shipping containers went, when they’ll come back, and what the world can do in the meantime.
