How a new bond could improve mental health services in jail

A $507 million bond proposal for public safety is heading to the ballot in Salt Lake County in November. One of the motivations for this bond is to improve and expand mental health resources for those dealing with homelessness and criminal activity. Salt Lake County Sheriff Rosie Rivera says that the county jails are the largest mental health providers in the state. She joins KSL at Night to talk more about the things she sees in her department.
