In the 2nd Sermon of our Gods plan series, we ask the question, ask what is Christmas, why we celebrate it, and how we celebrate it as a holiday, by teaching from Luke Chapter 2, The Birth of Jesus Christ.
It is important to remember Christmas did not originate as a Christian celebration, but we now celebrate it from a Christian perspective to honor of Jesus Christ Birth and remember the incarnate birth.
3 points to how we should celebrate Christmas.
1. Celebrate by worshiping Jesus. Luke 2:13-14
13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,
14 “Glory to God in the highest,
and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”
2. Let people know about Jesus' birth and his coming. Luke 2:16-18
22 And when the time came for their purification according to the Law of Moses, they brought him up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord 23 (as it is written in the Law of the Lord, “Every male who first opens the womb shall be called holy to the Lord”)
24 and to offer a sacrifice according to what is said in the Law of the Lord, “a pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons.”
