In 2014, 2 inventors were inducted into the Inventors Hall of Fame. These 2 inventors had invented something in the early 1940s during World War II, and were granted a U.S. Patent 2292387. What was interesting about this invention, was that it had to do with the guidance of torpedos that were used during World War II to defeat the enemy, Nazi Germany. These 2 inventors came together, both artists who were not trained in the sciences. But their invention was critical.

 

Invention is significant. It's the intersection between curiosity and creativity... and that's the same of the heart of science. Inventors have a freedom where they're not looked upon, whereas scientists have a particular jury that they have to answer to. Inventors are scientists at heart, AND they can produce.
