As a nurse cares for the patients, it's important to ensure a holistic approach which includes meeting the spiritual needs of the patient. Because the patient must be treated as a whole the nurse must recognize and implement spiritual care as part of the treatment care plan. The consideration must be made according to the beliefs of the patient. A creative, supportive environment should be embraced which includes active listening, and incorporating spiritual preferences into the care plans. Embracing this approach supports the healing of the patient, in addition to providing comfort, meaning, and peace during challenging moments.
