How Can I Pray When I Am Hurting?
When pain grips your heart, prayer can feel impossible. The words won't come, the tears won't stop, and your soul feels weary. But even in the silence, God hears.
Romans 8:26 (MSG) says, "If we don't know how or what to pray, it doesn't matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans."
You don't have to have the right words. You just have to come. Sit with God. Be honest. Pour out your heart—even if it's messy, broken, or confused. God isn't looking for perfection. He's looking for your presence.
David prayed through pain in Psalm 34:18, "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed." That promise is for you, too.
Sometimes the most powerful prayer is simply whispering, "Jesus, I need You." Let His peace meet you in the middle of the ache.
When you're hurting, you don't have to pray perfectly. Just pray sincerely. He sees. He knows. And He's holding you even now.
