the pain of heartache

like a root canal

and everything carries

the scent, and the stench

of before, and loneliness

fills the stagnant air,

and chokes out tears and sobs,

and then relief for

a short while until

some damned item brings

it all back in a rush

that tags you and

you're it again,

that broken hearted puppet

dancing on heartstrings

no longer connected

to memories motion picture show

the light of your life goes dark

the curtains where you weep

are drawn tight against what waits

when you exit where love once lay...

but love will take center stage

in your heart again

and dazzle an audience of one

seeking two to star in the next

heated romance to come
