HOW CHRIST DID IT

Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Philippians 2:5-8

1. My salvation is rooted in the fact that Jesus gave up His rights for me. (vs. 6)

“…who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped…”

2. My salvation is rooted in the fact that Jesus became less so that I could become more. (v. 7)

“but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men.”
Kenosis

"But of that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone." Mark 13:32

Hypostatic Union
“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” Mark 10:45
The glory that He had before He came to earth was veiled by His human form.

Jesus took with Him Peter and James and John, and brought them up on a high mountain by themselves. And He was transfigured before them; and His garments became radiant and exceedingly white, as no launderer on earth can whiten them. (Mark 9:2-3)

His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light. (Matthew 17:2)

Suddenly there was a great earthquake! For an angel of the Lord came down from heaven, rolled aside the stone, and sat on it. His face shone like lightning, and his clothing was as white as snow. (Matthew 28:2-3)
He chose not use some of His divine attributes, voluntarily, some of the time.
3. My salvation is rooted in the fact that Jesus was obedient whatever the cost (v. 8).

“Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.”

“to [the] Jews a stumbling block and to Gentiles foolishness” (1 Corinthians 1:23).
