How Christians Are Protecting the Culture of Death
We have a couple states now who are bravely fighting to ban abortion completely in their territory. Two of these states are Idaho and Oklahoma. Oklahoma in particular has proposed a bill called SB-13 which seeks, like I said, to make abortion illegal. It would provide the same penalties for abortion as any other homicide.
Shockingly, the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma has come out in opposition to SB-13. Senator Silk (who authored SB-13) is also a Christian and a Baptist and he is 'appalled' by their decision. How can Christians, in good conscience, NOT support the banning of abortion?
The issue comes down to States Rights. Many other states are openly defying the Federal Gov on issues like Marijuana, Illegal Immigration (Sanctuary Cities anyone?) and Firearms. The idea behind SB-13 is that Roe V Wade was unconstitutional, State Rights supersedes Federal Authority, and so any attempt by the Federal Gov to throw out SB-13 (if it were passed) would be ignored.
The Baptist General Convention cannot understand all this. They are cowards. They are also egomaniacs. They assert that they have sweated and worked to get Pro-Life bills passed. Unfortunately, their 'Pro-Life' bills are half-measures. SB-13 is the real deal.
