Ancient Uses: Cleansing of lepers, ritual cleansing after touching a dead body or anything else considered unclean, ritual cleansing from evil spirits, cosmetics, embalming, skin problems, various medications, calming effects. This may be the first and most ancient of the distilled oils inasmuch as Chinese, Samarian’s and Egyptians were using the oil of cedarwood for embalming, disinfecting, hygienic and other purposes more than 5000 years ago. Mentioned on a Babylonian tablet dated 1800 BC.
Modern uses: Insect repellent, hair loss, tuberculosis, bronchitis, gonorrhea, skin disorders such as acne and psoriasis. Cedarwood is the highest known oil in sesquiterpenes which can deprogram misinformation and bring oxygen to cellular levels. Cedarwood also enhances deep sleep and is a melatonin stimulant. Cedarwood is also involved in emotional releases, and promotes mental clarity.
