I’ve had the privilege of working with over 600 different speakers in a one-on-one setting over the past three years. It’s amazing to me how many speakers there are who feel like they’re stuck, like they can’t get out of their own way to get on the right stages.
That’s what kickstarted a deeper question for me: how do I better market myself as a speaker, or in the case of my clients, how do I better market my speaking clients for the stages and events that are most attractive to their business?
One of the greatest truths I know when it comes to this question is that non-stop learners will automatically outpace other speakers because they intentionally stay ‘in the know’ when it comes to their industry.
I’ll never forget a speaker telling me they admit they hadn’t kept up with the latest news in their industry. Their reason? They’ve been too busy running their coaching program and speaking to make time to stay current on what’s happening in their industry.
Please don’t become that speaker. Follow Twitter trends. See what people are searching for in your industry on sites like BuzzSumo or SEMRush. Stay relevant and in-the-know with what’s happening in your industry and with your target Market.
What’s one action you can take today or even this week to become more up-to-date on your industry?
