How do teams evolve to high-performing: forming, storming, norming and performing

Listen Later

The performance of a team is not only based on the expertise of each of the individuals. The way team members collaborate and relate with each other is key in achieving team and business goals: it’s what makes the difference and creates high-performing teams.

How a team performs varies in different moments in time, the team evolves as people get to know and understand each other, their strengths and weaknesses, and find their unique ways of collaborating.

In this episode, we talk about the framework developed by Bruce W. Tuckman in the sixties that help us understand this process. With a real-life example of our own experience, we discuss the four stages that teams go through, from creation to high-performing: forming, storming, norming, and performing; as well as the fifth one: adjourning.
