How do we honour our artists by promoting local music?

Legendary South African musician Steve Kekana has passed away. The 63 year old died at the Polokwane hospital this morning after a long illness. The artist and qualified advocate was known for his gospel as well as love songs both in English and Sesotho languages.  Born on 4 August 1958 in Zebediela in the then-Transvaal, Kekana recorded 40 albums in his music career. The sad part about us as South Africans is that we only remember them when they are gone. How do we use the memories of our departed artists to support and promote local music?
