When she was California's Attorney General, Kamala Harris officiated a same sex wedding, even though same sex weddings were against the law in California at the time, as voted on by the majority of California's voters. As expected, those promoting gay marriage said she did the "right thing," even though it went against both the law and the will of the voters. That leads to this question, "What is the right thing?" How can we know if we are doing the right thing in any given circumstance? And how does this play into how we vote, and even how we choose our healthcare options?
