You’ve probably heard the saying, “You are the average of the five people with whom you spend your time.” I like the saying, “If you hang around five millionaires long enough, you will soon become the sixth one.”
The principle is we feed off of the intellectual stimulus, business genius, and overall health of the people we spend time with and learning from in life. In my perspective, that includes the authors we read and the experts we trust with our attention.
Your circle of friends or colleagues may not be that accomplished, but you can elevate the quality of your ‘friends’ by choosing authors, podcasters, and personalities who challenge us to think, reflect, and make changes based on what we learn.
So, whose books are you reading lately? Whose podcasts are you sending through your earbuds in traffic or at the gym?
You can absolutely include different authors, podcasters, YouTubers, really anyone in your everyday routine by consuming their messages from anywhere. This will raise the overall quality of your ‘friend group’ and kickstart a deeper appetite for learning.
You may just become the next author or achieve the next level of your potential because you intentionally included these influencers into your everyday conversation.
