How does the Holy Spirit help us? "The Holy Spirit convicts us of our sin, comforts us, guides us, gives us spiritual gifts and the desire to obey God; and he enables us to pray and to understand God’s Word." What I do want to do is look at the gifts of the spirit and the fruit of the spirit. We often talk about these things separately, but this is a really great way to see how the holy spirit helps believers. We will read 1 Corinthians 12:4-11 and Galatians 5:22-23. The Holy Spirit convicts us ['the world"] of our sin (John 16:8, Romans 8), comforts us (Acts 9:31, John 14:16,26), guides us
(Matthew 4:1,John 14:13, Romans 8, Galatians 5:25), gives us spiritual gifts (1 Corinthians 12 (Galatians 5:22-23), and the desire to obey God (Psalm 37:4, Galatians 5:16-17); and he enables us to pray (Romans 8:26, 1 Corinthians 14-15), and to understand God’s Word (John 16:13).
